Latinos gradually make their way to the polls

Hey readers!

I read an article in The Daily Tar Heel about how Latino immigration has affected voting in Orange County, if you're interested you can read it here.

Well, I don't understand your graph, but that is because I don't understand Spanish that well. What does it mean?

The article makes an interesting point of how welcoming immigrants helps the future generations. Outreach should be beneficial to the future.

The Latino population in the United States is much larger than many may think. I read that 14% of Americans are Latino, in contrast to the 12% African American that seems pretty crazy to me. If more Latinos would or could register to vote they would have so much sway in government and the elections. I heard by 2050 the majority will no longer be white. It is clear that the future will hold some big changes. It is pretty exciting.

It's really great to hear that Latinos are taking the initiative to become a part of the community. It is important for all residents to have a say in what happens in the country they live in. Once Latinos understand that they are a part of this country and have a say in what is done they will able to be a big part of today.

Volt-air, it compares the growth of the Latin American population in the OC, to the number of Latinos registered to vote in the county.
Laurel, it is pretty incredible. The thing is that even though they are such a large population, not many of them are registered to vote (some because they are illegal immigrants) so in the end it doesn't really make that much of a difference.
D.R., just in Carrboro Latinos form a 10% of the working population! they are definitely a big part of our community that should not be ignored.

The fact that people are finally turning out to vote is a great positive because, like Laurel said the Latino population in america is always increasing...
